The Popular Party (PP) has launched a fierce attack on the Socialist Party (PSOE) after its Federal Committee closed ranks behind Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, accusing it of covering up corruption and demanding snap elections. Miguel Tellado, the PP's secretary general, warned that the PSOE had 'committed suicide' by choosing to protect Sánchez rather than address the legal problems surrounding his government.
In a speech at the PP's congress in Huesca, Tellado listed 16 ongoing judicial cases involving Sánchez's circle, claiming 97 people have been indicted. He argued that the PSOE is 'completely trapped in its labyrinth of judicial cases' and that the party has more indictees than deputies. The PP is reportedly changing its stance on Catalan separatists. Earlier, PP leader Alberto Núñez Feijóo had fiercely opposed the amnesty law, but now he has welcomed Junts per Catalunya into a new parliamentary majority against Sánchez.
