PP Defends Pacts with Vox as Guarantee of Governability

The secretary general of Spain's Popular Party (PP), Miguel Tellado, has defended the party's coalition agreements with far-right Vox in several regional governments, arguing they "guarantee governability." Speaking at an event in Pontedeume, Tellado contrasted these pacts with the national government's reliance on EH Bildu, saying the PP would be ashamed to pact with Bildu.

Defense of Pacts

Tellado stated that the PP chose to ally with "the closest party" ideologically, Vox, and expressed satisfaction with the deals reached after recent elections in Extremadura, Aragon, Castile and León, and Andalusia. He asserted that the PP governs for the majority of Spaniards.

Political Reaction

Socialist minister Óscar López sharply criticized PP leader Alberto Núñez Feijóo, accusing him of being the "great whitener" of the far-right. López claimed the PP has adopted Vox's discourse on immigration, abortion, and women's rights, making it "impossible to differentiate today between the PP and Vox."
