Nadine Sierra and Xabier Anduaga delivered a memorable performance at the Gala de Grandes Intérpretes “Margarita Copello de Rodríguez” on August 21 at the Teatro Nacional in Santo Domingo, accompanied by the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional under José Antonio Molina . The event, organized by Fundación Sinfonía and Fundación Amigos del Teatro Nacional, honored the late Margarita Copello de Rodríguez and raised funds for educational programs and theater renovations .
The program spanned opera, zarzuela, and Broadway, featuring works by Verdi, Mascagni, Gounod, Donizetti, Puccini, and Bernstein . Critics praised the duo's chemistry, especially in duets like “Parigi, o cara” and “O soave fanciulla” . Anduaga's rendition of “Ah! mes amis” with its nine high Cs was a standout, while Sierra showcased her versatility across styles .
The audience's ovation prompted three encores: “Júrame,” “O mio babbino caro,” and “O sole mio,” turning the evening into a celebration . The concert was originally scheduled for October 2025 but was postponed due to Tropical Storm Melissa .
