Soprano Nadine Sierra and tenor Xabier Anduaga will perform together on Friday, August 21, at 8:30 p.m. in the Sala Carlos Piantini of the Teatro Nacional in Santo Domingo, as part of the Gala de Grandes Intérpretes “Margarita Copello de Rodríguez” . The concert, organized by the Fundación Sinfonía and the Fundación Amigos del Teatro Nacional, honors the memory of Margarita Copello de Rodríguez, a key figure in Dominican classical music promotion . The artists will be accompanied by the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional under the direction of maestro José Antonio Molina .
The gala was originally scheduled for October 21, 2025, but was postponed due to the passage of tropical storm Melissa and adverse weather conditions . Tickets purchased for the original date remain valid for the new performance; reprints are available free of charge for those who bought through the Fundación Sinfonía box office, while courtesy tickets also require reprinting .
The program spans opera, zarzuela, and musical theater, featuring excerpts from La Traviata, L’amico Fritz, Roméo et Juliette, La Fille du Régiment, L’elisir d’amore, and La Bohème, as well as Spanish zarzuela pieces and Broadway numbers like My Fair Lady, Candide, and West Side Story . Notable moments include the duets “Parigi, o cara” and “O soave fanciulla,” and “Tonight” from West Side Story .
