Cadillac F1 has appointed Marcin Budkowski as its new team principal, replacing Graeme Lowdon, as the team transitions from its initial construction phase to a performance-focused era. The change takes effect immediately, with Budkowski joining the garage at the Dutch Grand Prix on August 21–23 . CEO Dan Towriss called the move "always the plan," emphasizing the team's goal to compete at the front . Budkowski, a Polish engineer with stints at Prost, Ferrari, McLaren, and Alpine, said his first priority is to listen and observe at the factory and at Zandvoort .
Amid rumors linking Sergio Pérez to Williams, Cadillac has publicly reaffirmed its commitment to the Mexican driver. Towriss stated, "Checo has been a great asset for the team," and expressed full confidence that Pérez will remain with Cadillac . Budkowski echoed this, noting that a young driver would add too many variables to a learning team, making Pérez's experience crucial . However, Towriss left the door open, saying "no changes are planned for '27, but things can always change" .
Cadillac, a debutant this year, has yet to score a point in 11 races, with both Pérez and Valtteri Bottas enduring multiple retirements . Pérez has outperformed Bottas in qualifying (6-5) and races (6-3), though his best finish, a P10 in Monaco, was nullified by a 10-second penalty . The team hopes the leadership change will spark improvement in the second half of the season.
