LaLiga has announced it will file a formal complaint with the Spanish Football Federation’s Disciplinary Committee regarding an assault on Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga. The incident occurred during the celebration of Kylian Mbappé’s second goal, which secured a 1-2 victory for Real Madrid over Barcelona at the Spotify Camp Nou.
During the 88th minute, after Mbappé scored into an empty net following a key individual effort by Camavinga, several Real Madrid players gathered near one end of the field to celebrate. According to reports, Barcelona fans threw objects toward the celebrating group. While most items missed, Camavinga was struck at least twice by the mast of a fan’s flag. Teammates immediately moved to shield and remove him from the area closest to the stands.
LaLiga confirmed it became aware of the assault through viral video footage circulating online. Both El Mundo and La Vanguardia report that the league intends to present this evidence to the RFEF’s Disciplinary Committee. The committee will review the facts to determine if any disciplinary measures should be imposed on the club or specific individuals involved.
The incident highlights ongoing tensions between supporters during high-stakes matches. LaLiga’s decision to act formally suggests a stricter approach to spectator violence in future fixtures.
