Pedro Sánchez has confirmed he will be the first presidential candidate to appear on David Broncano’s La Revuelta, marking a key moment in Spain’s pre-election media landscape. The interview is scheduled for Thursday, October 22, 2026, airing live at 21:45 on La 1 and RTVE Play. This appearance follows a year-long relationship between the President and the show, which began with a viral video response to host Jorge Ponce regarding his daughter.
While Sánchez accepts the invitation, other major contenders have remained silent. Broncano confirmed that invitations were sent to PP leader Alberto Núñez Feijóo and Vox leader Santiago Abascal, but neither has responded. Collaborator Grison joked that the opposition leaders might be avoiding the program to prevent "catching affection" before potentially sacrificing the team if they win power. Meanwhile, rival entertainment giant Pablo Motos of El Hormiguero had previously offered Sánchez 70 minutes on Antena 3, highlighting the competitive nature of political access in prime-time entertainment.
During the broadcast, Sánchez addressed several critical issues. He pledged to protect La Revuelta’s existence on public television if re-elected, warning that a PP-Vox government would impose "censorship," citing cultural cancellations in Castilla y León as evidence. He also dismissed the viability of ERC’s Gabriel Rufián leading a unified left-wing candidacy, labeling the party "independentist." Furthermore, Sánchez commented on former Prime Ministers Felipe González and José María Aznar, noting he no longer feels "very identified" with González’s current stance while dismissing Aznar’s right to give lessons due to his departure from office.
The event underscores the blending of politics and entertainment in the 2026 campaign. As El Mundo noted, this is one of the first major appearances of the pre-campaign, setting a tone for how candidates engage with informal, high-reach formats rather than just formal debates.
