Jhon Jader Durán will miss Benfica's Europa League match against Omonia on October 22 due to a knee injury, but the issue is not considered serious and he could return as early as next Monday.
Durán did not travel to Cyprus after experiencing discomfort in his right knee. Benfica manager Marco Silva confirmed the absence in a press conference, listing Durán alongside other injured players: "Leandro and Durán won't be available either. It's a high number, unfortunately, at an important moment." Portuguese outlet Record reported that the injury is not grave and that Durán has been training with limitations.
The setback comes at a frustrating time for the 22-year-old Colombian, who had just scored his first brace for Benfica in a 4-1 win over Celtic in the previous Europa League round. He had started both of Benfica's first two league-phase matches against AC Milan and Celtic, scoring three goals in the competition. This season, Durán has played 407 minutes across 14 appearances in all competitions, scoring four goals.
While Durán will miss the Omonia match, he is expected to be available for Benfica's Primeira Liga fixture against Santa Clara on Monday, October 24. The club faces a congested schedule with matches every three days, limiting rotation options.
