Tesla has announced reservation deposits for the new Roadster, ranging from $50,000 to $250,000 USD, while final pricing remains undisclosed. The electric sports car, featuring technology developed in collaboration with SpaceX, is scheduled for production in 2028 following years of delays .
The lineup includes three distinct configurations. The Performance version requires a $50,000 deposit and seats two passengers . The Thrust variant, equipped with rear propellers, demands a significantly higher $250,000 deposit . The top-tier Rocket model, a single-seater capable of flight maneuvers, is available exclusively by invitation and lacks a public reservation price . In Mexico, initial reservations require a fully refundable payment of 100,000 MXN, followed by an additional 864,000 MXN within ten days .
During a demonstration at SpaceX’s McGregor facility, a prototype performed aerial flips using compressed air systems rather than traditional rocket fuel . Tesla claims the Rocket version utilizes cold gas thrusters and suction mechanisms to assist with acceleration and lateral rotation . While the prototype achieved 0-96.6 km/h in 0.81 seconds, Tesla projects the Production Rocket will accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in under 0.59 seconds .
This launch aims to revitalize Tesla’s brand image after consecutive years of declining sales . Although Elon Musk initially promised a 2020 release, the project has faced repeated postponements . Deliveries in international markets, including Mexico, have not yet been confirmed, leaving buyers to monitor official channels for further updates .
