Five Israeli opposition leaders have agreed to coordinate their efforts ahead of the October 27 Knesset elections, aiming to secure a majority and replace Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government.
The leaders met at opposition leader Yair Lapid's home in Tel Aviv on Saturday. The meeting was attended by Lapid (Yesh Atid), Naftali Bennett (Bennett 2026), Avigdor Lieberman (Yisrael Beiteinu), Gadi Eisenkot (Yashar), and Yair Golan (Democrats).
The group signed a document pledging to boost voter turnout within their respective constituencies to secure a majority and form a new government. Three joint working groups will be established within 48 hours:
Netanyahu criticized the opposition's coordination, claiming Eisenkot would seek to form a government with Lapid, Golan, Bennett 2026, Yisrael Beiteinu, and Arab parties. He posted on X: "Only a strong Likud will stop them," alongside an AI-altered photo of the meeting that added Arab party leaders Mansour Abbas and Ahmad Tibi.
Bennett expressed optimism, stating: "I am filled with hope again tonight. I am confident that we can win 63 seats and work together to fix Israel."
