Tigres UANL have signed Mexican forward Ricardo Monreal from Necaxa, with the 25-year-old arriving in Monterrey on Thursday morning to finalize the move. Monreal landed at the airport and expressed his excitement: "I'm already a tiger and I come to give everything."
According to reports, Tigres acquired Monreal's rights in a permanent transfer for around $2 million USD, with Necaxa retaining a percentage for a future sale. The contract length is reported as three years by Milenio, while Excelsior mentions four years. Monreal is expected to undergo medical tests and sign his contract later today, with his first training session on Friday.
Monreal, who can play as a winger or center forward, has spent most of his career at Necaxa, where he has recorded 14 goals and 15 assists in 138 first-division appearances. He has also represented Mexico at youth levels and earned a senior call-up in 2024. His physical style, standing at 1.86 meters, is seen as a fit for Tigres' attacking needs.
Tigres are still seeking another striker to play as a central forward, as Monreal has recently been used as a winger. The club has until June 11 to complete further signings. Monreal could travel with the team to Torreón for Saturday's match against Santos Laguna.
