The Instituto Nacional de Cancerología (INC) has unilaterally terminated its contract with EPS Famisanar, affecting oncology patients, both adults and pediatrics, who were receiving treatment at the institute. The decision, announced on Friday, August 14, forces Famisanar to activate an alternative care network to ensure continuity of treatments.
Famisanar stated that it evaluated the conditions proposed by the INC to maintain the agreement but concluded that, given the current circumstances of the health sector, it could not meet the institute's demands. The EPS's official statement says: "it is not possible to attend to the exigencies manifested by the INC" . This unilateral termination impacts patients directly, but Famisanar assures that no affiliate will be left without guidance.
Famisanar has activated a contingency scheme, including a network of alternative providers, to avoid interruptions in ongoing treatments. The relocation of patients will be done according to each patient's clinical and care needs, with individual assignment to a new institution. The EPS will contact each affected affiliate directly to provide personalized information and accompany them through the process .
For queries and follow-up, Famisanar has enabled specific channels: for adults, caadultos@famisanar.com.co; for pediatric patients, capediatrico@famisanar.com.co; and an online form for those treated at INC during 2026. Additionally, the usual institutional channels remain available, including phone lines, WhatsApp, and in-person offices .
