Carolina Leconte, Netflix's VP of Content for Mexico and Latin America Licensing, said: "Nos encanta ser socios creativos del talento local y ver en pantalla las múltiples caras de México. Nuestro objetivo es contar historias audaces que entretengan y ofrezcan una perspectiva auténtica de la vida mexicana" . The films will be available from September 1, 2026, to March 2027 .
Netflix also greenlit the sequel to the thriller 'Contraataque' (2025), which follows an elite Mexican special forces squad fighting drug cartels . Additionally, the platform is developing '35 días,' a project about a travel journalist recovering from alcoholism over 35 days in rehab .
Mario Moreno Reyes (1911–1993), known as Cantinflas, was a Golden Globe winner for 'La vuelta al mundo en 80 días' (1956) and coined the verb 'cantinflear' .
