José Ángel Lizárraga wrote a heartfelt farewell, calling Alberto "more than my brother, my life companion, my support and my friend" . Poncho Lizárraga, current leader of Banda El Recodo, praised Alberto's role as a father, saying "the great love he had for his children and the great father he was" . Alberto's son, also named Alberto, remembered him as "Bato Machín" .
Alberto was part of Banda El Recodo before leaving in the early 1990s to form Banda Mr. Lobo. He also played a key role in forming Banda Los Recoditos . His departure from El Recodo reportedly caused tensions with his father, Don Cruz .
His death comes two months after the passing of Yolanda Lizárraga, daughter of Germán Lizárraga, from breast cancer . The family has not yet announced funeral arrangements.
