INTEC and AI Robotix unveil AI platform to accelerate Alzheimer's research

A partnership between the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) and AI Robotix has produced an artificial intelligence platform designed to accelerate Alzheimer’s disease research. The system has already processed more than 232,000 scientific articles and genetic databases, isolating 3,223 datasets with potential to generate new hypotheses about the disease’s origin and progression Source: Hoy. Unlike conventional tools, the platform aims to create and test novel scientific hypotheses, discarding weak ones early to focus efforts on the most promising avenues for diagnosis, prevention, or treatment.

Key advances

The platform integrates global supercomputing networks, including NVIDIA BioNeMo, Amazon BioDiscovery, and Cloud Sciences, to run molecular simulations Source: Hoy. As a first proof of concept, it completed computational simulations of brain mechanics related to Alzheimer’s.

Team expansion

To guide clinical validation, the project has brought on board Argentine neurologist Ricardo Francisco Allegri as principal investigator, whose experience in neurodegenerative diseases will help set scientific priorities and oversee methodology Source: Listín Diario. Juan Carlos Guilbe, CEO of AI Robotix and project founder, highlighted that Allegri’s role strengthens the link between AI-generated proposals and rigorous preclinical studies.

Next steps

Manuel Colomer, an INTEC epidemiologist, stated that the team expects to produce scientific publications in the second half of this year and early next year to transform how Alzheimer’s is approached Source: Listín Diario.
