June 2026 sets record for drownings in Spain with 92 deaths

92 people died from drowning in Spain in June 2026, the highest monthly figure since records began in 2015, according to the Royal Spanish Federation of Rescue and Lifeguard (RFESS). This brings the total for the first half of 2026 to 217 fatalities, six more than the same period in 2025.
