President Javier Milei met with La Libertad Avanza lawmakers at the Casa Rosada, where he announced a proposal to amend the Central Bank's charter, while his sister Karina Milei outlined three key legislative priorities for the new phase of government. The meeting aimed to unify the ruling coalition amid internal tensions following the resignation of chief of staff Manuel Adorni.
President Milei said he is working with the Economy and Deregulation ministries on a reform of the BCRA's charter, arguing the current framework, designed under former BCRA president Mercedes Marcó del Pont, is "populist" and enabled monetary emission . The proposal would tighten rules to prevent the Central Bank from financing fiscal deficits . However, Milei did not reiterate his campaign pledge to close the bank.
Karina Milei, who convened the meeting, set the legislative agenda: a political reform (electoral overhaul), adjustments to the "Zona Fría" natural gas subsidy regime, and modifications to the tax amnesty (Inocencia Fiscal) law . She also introduced her new management team and sought to reinforce her leadership, particularly towards Patricia Bullrich, head of the Senate bloc, with whom she has had tensions .
