The PSPV-PSOE has filed a criminal complaint before the Supreme Court against former Valencian President Carlos Mazón for alleged false testimony during his appearance before the congressional committee investigating the devastating floods of October 29, 2024. The complaint, based on penal code article 502.3, accuses Mazón of lying under oath on multiple occasions.
The complaint details seven areas where Mazón allegedly misled the committee:
Call log irregularities: Mazón claimed to have made his call log public, but the document submitted to the regional committee is "not reliable". Calls to Alberto Núñez Feijóo appear but did not occur, while a call to Salomé Pradas at 20:19 is missing. Source: lavanguardia
Knowledge of the emergency: Mazón stated he suffered an "apagón informativo" and lacked information. However, WhatsApp messages from the Consell group at 8:15 am show he instructed members to "inundar de datos a los medios" and "dar la sensación de estar alerta que te cagas". Source: abces
Early knowledge of deaths: He claimed he did not know about fatalities until 5 am on October 30, but a message to Feijóo at 23:25 states "ya están apareciendo muertos en Utiel", and he confirmed bodies on TV at 00:30. Source: lavanguardia
Itinerary after lunch: Mazón said he walked from El Ventorro to the Palau, but the complaint alleges he accompanied a companion to a parking lot, missing calls from Pradas. Source: lavanguardia
